What is a baby blessing?

After the momentous occasion of a new baby being born it can be wonderful to have a ceremony of welcoming, naming, giving thanks and celebrating this child's arrival in all  your lives.

Whatever the age of the child, a ceremony is written to suit the occasion. The ceremony focuses on them, their qualities, and your hopes and dreams for them.  It affirms your love and support for them and your intention to do your very best to bring them up well. Having everyone gathered together at this special time can strengthen the bond between you and other close family members and friends.

The Baby blessing was wonderful - full of warmth, meaning and relevant to us. Thank you so much for both the perspective and the performance. It contributed significantly to our special day.

God parents and grandparents

A baby naming ceremony does not preclude a Christening and may include some elements of that service if wanted. However it leaves your child free to choose any religious path that they want in later life.

God parents and spiritual guardians are often appointed at this ceremony as they may deepen your sense of family and the importance of those friendships. At the ceremony they may offer a poem or prayer for your child. It helps them to make that committment they are making with you for your child and the person they grow up to be. Grandparents may also wish to be feel honoured and included in their role to give love and care to their beloved grandchild.

Next step

I am here to help inspire and guide you to create whatever kind of ceremony you have in mind - simple or complex, traditional or creative.

Whether you've chosen a date or venue or not, I welcome an initial conversation without obligation, to find out how I can be of help.

What will it cost?

The cost of creating a tailor made blessing and naming ceremony, being available for support and consultation throughout the process leading up to the day, and being the celebrant on the day, is between £220 and £300, depending on circumstances, or number of siblings begin blessed, plus travel costs, or if overnight accommodation will be needed.
