A baby naming ceremony does not preclude a Christening and may include some elements of that service if wanted. However it leaves your child free to choose any religious path that they want in later life.

God parents and spiritual guardians are often appointed at this ceremony as they may deepen your sense of family and the importance of those friendships. At the ceremony they may offer a poem or prayer for your child. It helps them to make that committment they are making with you for your child and the person they grow up to be. Grandparents may also wish to be feel honoured and included in their role to give love and care to their beloved grandchild.
